At Urban Tandoor, you will be able to take a delectable culinary tour of India and Nepal. Our specialities include menu items prepared in the traditional Indian clay oven (“tandoor”), grilled items, classic curries, and a wide variety of comfort delicacies. The tandoor-based and grilled items are light but highly flavorful, and the curry items provide a wide sampling of curries from North and South India. Menu items are selected meticulously to help our customers appreciate the art of bringing the ingredients and spices (also called “masala”) together. A typical masala is a mix of multiple spices -- coriander, cumin, black peppercorns, green cardamom, cinnamon, dried red chiles, cloves, fennel, mace, nutmeg, etc. The decision of what spices to use (and in what proportions) to prepare a perfect masala for a given dish depends on, among others, whether the dish includes meat, vegetables or fish and on the culinary origins of the dish. This process of creating a perfect mix to add just the right spice and flavor to different dishes is something of an art in itself, which our Chef has mastered over years of training and exploration. We invite you to take a stroll down to the world of masala and tandoor, and experience fine Indian and Nepalese cuisine like you have never before.
